      EVENT DETAILS
      Trail of Tears Motorcycle Ride

The 2020 Trail of Tears Motorcycle Ride will be the 27th year of the commemorative event. Each year the bike ride is held to commemorate the suffering and death endured by the American Indians in the 1830s.  In addition, the Trail of Tears Ride is on the LightningCustoms.com’s Major Motorcycle Rallies List.

Next, here’s a brief history of the Trail of Tears. First, in 1830 the US passed the Indian Removal Act. Specifically, the Act required that the American Indians voluntarily leave their lands.

Then in 1838 when the deadline expired the remaining American Indians were forcibly removed. Members of the Cherokee, Seminole, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek, Ponca, and Ho-Chunk / Winnebago nationsare some of the tribes removed.

Part of the removal included 16,000 Cherokee Indians. But during the removal many of them suffered from disease, exposure, and starvation because the conditions were so bad. Eventually approximately 4,000 of the Indians tragically died.

Next, part of the path that some of these Cherokee Indians were forced to take is now called the Trail of Tears. Next, the Trail of Tears Commemorative Motorcycle Ride goes a long part of this approximate path.

Notably, the 2020 Trail of Tears Ride does not have any registration fees.

** Finally, another event that you might want to check out is the June Bug Boogie in Tennessee.
