Living Deeply on the path with the practice of meditation and inclusiveness.

This is the third of a series of three Dharma Training retreats exploring the relevance of the Six Perfections (Paramitas) to our everyday life. Practitioners may join these retreats on a one-off basis, but are encouraged to attend two or all three, if possible, to explore different aspects of the practice. A discount, payable as a refund, will be offered to those who attend two or more retreats. The retreat runs from 5.00pm on Thursday 22nd October to 4.00 pm to Monday 26th October. Please organise your travel plan to allow you to be present for the whole retreat. The retreat is suitable for those with an established understanding of mindfulness and a regular practice and will include:- - Opportunities to practice guided and silent meditations, sitting meditation, walking meditation, mindful eating and noble silence; - Opportunities to learn from others through dharma sharing and exploration; - Dharma teaching from UK Dharma Teachers. Set texts for reflection may be shared with you before the retreat. This in-depth retreat will be led by UK Dharma Teachers Theresa Payne and Lesley Collington at Sidcot Quaker School and will allow us to explore ways in which we can bring being inclusive and practising meditation into our daily lives. The retreat is being organised by the Community of Interbeing. We are a growing network of people in the UK who practice mindfulness and aspire to develop peace and happiness in ourselves and in the world by living according to the teachings on global ethics of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. His teachings, which can be followed by people of all ages and any religion or none, are notable for their emphasis on joy, engagement in the world, and integrating the practice of mindfulness into daily life. We are a registered educational charity which offers a programme of courses, retreats and events and encourages and supports local groups that meet to practice mindfulness. We ask anyone coming on our Dharma Training Programme retreats to become a member of the Community of Interbeing by accessing the national website https://www.plumvillage.uk/support-us/ Location Sidcot School was established in 1699 and is set in 160 acres of organic farmland and beautiful grounds in an area of outstanding natural beauty near Winscombe in the Mendip Hills. We will be using some of the grounds and the extensive facilities during the school half term. If travelling by car, Sidcot is within five miles of the M5 via exits 20 and 21. Rail links to London are excellent as Sidcot is only 15 miles south of Bristol and Temple Meads Station. The nearest stations are Weston-super-Mare or Yatton which are only eight miles away with a transfer time to Sidcot of approximately 20 minutes by taxi. Accommodation The majority of the bedrooms for the retreat are simple single en suite bedrooms although some people will need to share. There is one bedroom on the ground floor designed for people with restricted wheel chair access. Bedrooms will be distributed on a first come first served basis.
