MaryJayne Casillo Foundation Eleventh Annual Fundraiser Honoring Michael J. Alber and Blessings from Bella Fund

This year Michael Alber ran a tremendously successful campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as a nominee for their Man of the Year. In doing so, Michael has made a commitment to the cause of  fighting cancer. We recognize Michael for his tremendous heart and outreach for those in need making Michael an exception choice as our honoree. Unfortunatly, this year Michaels family lost a beautiful little girl – Bella. At the age of 3, Bella was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma and had undergone a life changing brain surgery to remove a brain tumor. Bella was a warrior and became an angel at the age of 5. Her loss will always carry a place in our hearts and for that this year we chose her foundation, Blessings from Bella Fund to be the beneficiaries of this event! Come join in helping raise money, awareness, and celebrating Bella's life! The Blessings From Bella Fund was created and inspired by the most beautiful and bravest princess warrior Isabella “Bella” Marie Inzerillo. At the age of 3, Isabella was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a very-aggressive, pediatric brain cancer in both her full brain and entire spine. She fought the most difficult of battles no child, let alone adult, should ever fight, with the outmost courage, strength, incredible passion for life and those who love her, but most importantly that radiating smile, for nearly 2 years. She was hospitalized for nearly a year at CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia), and then in and out of treatment at the NYU Winthrop Cancer Center for Kids, where she was first diagnosed. Bella won her battle and slid down the rainbow slide to become an angel in March of 2019, 2 months after her 5th birthday. With a smile and personality remembered by all who knew her or simply just her story, her legacy will forever live on. During Isabella’s long days/months of treatment, the Child Life department was her life saver, true angels on earth. They made sure at any given time she was smiling or laughing and playing to keep her mind and focus off of the “ouchies” or scary stuff that was going on around her or being discussed in her room. Whether it was stickers, play-doh, paint, nail polish, or her beloved crafts and books, the Child Life staff came to her rescue with whatever she asked for and loved. Even the doctors knew just the right things to bring into the room of the girl with “the sunshine smile.” Our mission with the Blessings From Bella Fund is just that, to deliver these little “blessings” from Bella to children going through the toughest of battles, to provide them with some smiles, fun and little “blessings” as we called them, to make their treatment/clinic visit not so scary. Isabella brought so many blessings to all those she loved (especially her hospital friends and family), to them we will forever be grateful. She taught us to appreciate the little things in life, or the “blessings” in each and every day. So it is our mission to give back as many of Bella’s blessings as we possibly can.
