Mission Creek Friends –

This past month has been very intense as the health situation has unfolded across the globe. We hope all of you are doing well–physically and spiritually–as we meet the challenges ahead.

In the midst of this disruptive time, we remain inspired and grounded by the forces of community and culture.

Looking toward a more positive future, we have set dates for a special Mission Creek Festival event. 𝗪𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲-𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰, 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟳-𝟭𝟵 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗜𝗼𝘄𝗮 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆. We can’t wait to celebrate with you — our friends, neighbors, and committed supporters of life and culture.

Furthermore, our close friends at FilmScene will launch their Refocus Film Festival that same week on September 18-20. It will be a busy, excellent weekend in the greatest small city for the arts. (We are working with the FilmScene team on some cross-festival discounts for super-fans who want to indulge in four days of film, literature, and music. More to come!)

We realize that we are moving through uncertain times and that the public health situation might even prevent us from producing a public event in September. If that’s the case, we will of course hold off, but for now we are going to imagine a future in which we return to public engagement and straight-up good times.

We are working to finalize the lineup and structure of the new festival. We hope to announce those details in June. So far, we know that some of the same artists will make it, some will not, and others will return to Iowa City for fall performances outside of these September dates.

For now, we’re requesting that you hold tight on making a decision regarding your festival access until we announce the full lineup in June, however, we know that this may not be possible for everyone. If you’d like to move forward today, we have options: You can hold onto your passes if you can make the new festival, let us know that you’ll wait for the summer lineup announcement to make a decision, or donate the value of your pass to our parent organization The Englert Theatre (we need cash!) or process a full refund (you also need cash!). You can also transfer the value of your festival access to an Englert gift certificate for use at a later time. To let us know how you’d like to proceed, click here.

For Passholders:
Festival passes will grant access to the September festival and any other special events featuring artists from the original lineup that come back in 2020. Click here to let us know how you’d like to move forward.

For Ticketholders:
If the artist that you’ve purchased a ticket to see is performing at the September festival, your access will be transferred to the new event automatically.
